Lay Pastoral Associate David Johnston

The Rev. James H. Morgan, Priest

A life-long resident of Huntington and a member of Trinity Episcopal Church since 1960, Jim was ordained as a Deacon of the Protestant Episcopal Church in 2008. After serving as a vocational Deacon, Jim was ordained as a Priest In 2018. He has served in leadership and teaching roles that touch almost every aspect of Parish life. He’s also served as a trustee in the Episcopal diocese of West Virginia and is currently serving as interim priest during Trinity’s search for a new rector.

Being a successful businessman and elected official has allowed Jim to become deeply involved in the community and has served as president or on the boards of a number of prominent city and state organizations. In 2016 Jim retired from the West Virginia Legislature after serving 20 years and was elected as a member of the Cabell County Commission.


Jim and his wife Betty – also an active church and community leader– have three sons and a daughter engaged in medicine, investments, the US treasury, and foundation work. They also have seven grandchildren.

​Mark A. Smith, Organist & Choirmaster

Mark, who came to Trinity in 2000 as organist and Choirmaster, has been involved in live performance, theater production, and church music for many years. Besides serving as organist and Choirmaster, he also directs Trinity’s Choral Scholars Program and heads up Music at Trinity, which provides free concerts for the community,

Mark has conceived, produced, and directed some very special musical events at Trinity.

Mark launched Trinity’s popular annual Halloween Concert. In 2013, he conducted a rare performance of jazzman Duke Ellington’s Concert of Sacred Music in the church.

A year later, he staged a concert version of Jesus Christ Superstar that was performed in the church before a capacity crowd.

​When he’s not at Trinity, Mark—a well-known Huntington keyboardist and music instructor at Marshall University—tours as synth wizard/auxiliary keyboardist with America’s Got Talent winner Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr. and his big band; teaches piano, keyboard, and voice; and has served as music director or keyboardist in many community theater productions.

Mark, a member of the Association of Anglican Musicians, has been with Trinity since November 2000.

​Kristi Meadows, Administrator

Kristi was born and raised in Southern Ohio, where she still lives. She received her Bachelors of Science in Education, with an emphasis in Mathematics and Music, from Ohio University 1997. In 2004, she also earned an Associate of Applied Science in Medical Laboratory Technology from Marshall University.

 

A talented clarinetist, Kristi is a member of the Ohio University Alumni Varsity Band. She is the mother of twin girls
